Custom Cannabis Labels & Compliance Stickers.

Custom cannabis labels and compliance stickers that do everything in one pass. BOPP, clear, and foil stocks. Variable data printing for batch numbers, QR codes, and Metrc tags. One label that handles branding and compliance.

Built for cannabis. Made factory-direct.

One Label Does Two Jobs

Your cannabis label has to do two things at once. It has to sell your product with your brand, and it has to satisfy your regulator with compliance data. Most brands use two labels for this. One on the front for branding, one on the back for compliance. We can do both in one print run.

The compliance side is where it gets technical. You need batch numbers, harvest dates, THC and CBD content, government warnings, and in some states a Metrc tag or QR code that links to lab results. All of this has to be printed clearly and legibly at label size, which is often under 2 square inches.

Materials and Print Quality

BOPP is our default material. It's durable, it's waterproof, and it sticks to any surface including mylar and glass. White BOPP gives you the best print vibrancy. Clear BOPP is for the no-label look where your product shows through. Metallic BOPP is for premium brands that want a foil look without the foil cost.

For actual foil, we do hot foil stamping. It's more expensive but it's the real thing. Metallic BOPP is a printed simulation. Foil stamping is actual metal foil applied to the label. The difference is visible and customers notice.

Variable data printing is where we handle batch numbers, QR codes, and Metrc tags. We can print a unique QR code on every label in a run. We can serialize batch numbers. We can print Metrc UID tags. This is all done digitally, so every label in a run can be different without slowing production.

Adhesive matters more than people think. Our labels use a permanent acrylic adhesive that bonds to mylar, glass, plastic, and paper. It won't peel in a dispensary display. It won't peel in a refrigerator. It won't peel in a customer's pocket. If your label falls off, your compliance information goes with it. That's a problem.

Product Knowledge

Is This the Right Packaging for Your Product?

Custom cannabis labels must withstand the same environmental hazards as the packaging itself - resisting moisture, freezing temperatures, and the solvent-like properties of cannabis resins. The industry standard material is BOPP (Biaxially Oriented Polypropylene), a film stretched in two directions for incredible tensile strength. BOPP is completely waterproof, highly resistant to oils and terpenes, and maintains structural integrity in refrigerated environments (crucial for rosin storage). Material and adhesive selection is the most critical failure point in cannabis labeling. Uncoated paper labels are prone to scuffing and will rapidly disintegrate if exposed to humidity or sticky concentrate oils. Therefore, BOPP is the industry standard, with heavy-duty vinyl variants available for extreme conditions. Adhesive chemistry must be matched to the substrate: glass jars require standard permanent acrylic adhesives, whereas flexible Mylar bags or heavily textured plastics require higher-tack adhesives to prevent edge-lift and peeling. Compliance requires exact layouts - Health Canada mandates 6pt minimum fonts and standardized yellow warning boxes - so labels are often digitally printed for crisp micro-text resolution and variable data printing (batch tracking, THC percentages, QR codes linking to COAs).

Ideal For

  • ✓ Glass jars
  • ✓ Pop-top bottles
  • ✓ Pre-roll tubes
  • ✓ Mylar bags
  • ✓ State-specific compliance labeling via Universal Blank strategy

Not Ideal For

  • ✕ Serving as a primary structural or barrier layer

ThicknessBOPP label stock: 2.4 to 4.0 mil; Heavy-duty Vinyl variants: 4.0 to 8.0 mil
Oxygen Barrier (OTR)N/A (labels protect printed ink, not product inside)
Moisture Barrier (MVTR)High resistance - BOPP is completely waterproof
Light ProtectionN/A (not a product barrier)
Odor BarrierN/A - BOPP resists oil and terpene degradation of the label itself

Uncoated paper labels disintegrate when exposed to humidity or concentrate oils. BOPP is completely waterproof and resistant to terpene solvents, maintaining label legibility for compliance. If a compliance label falls off or becomes illegible, the product is effectively unlabeled - a severe regulatory violation. Oregon fined Luminous Botanicals $100,000 for labels that fell off 35,000 vials.

Compliance

Certain Tamper-Evident labels (which leave a 'VOID' mark or tear upon opening) aid in state-mandated tamper complianceMust meet 6pt minimum font, standardized yellow warning box, and bilingual English/French requirementsCarries state-specific warnings, THC content, universal symbols, QR codes/COAs, and Metrc UID data for each jurisdictionN/A - labels are exterior application; inks and adhesives must not adulterate interior contents per 21 CFR Parts 174-178

Minimum Order & Timeline

MOQ: 500 to 1,000 units (digital printing allows ultra-low MOQs with variable data)

Timeline: 6 to 8 days (inclusive of production and QC)

Price Factors

  • Finishes (gloss/matte laminates, UV spot coating, hot foil stamping)
  • Adhesive quality (freezer-grade vs standard)
  • Material (BOPP vs vinyl vs metallic)
  • Variable data printing

Why Factory Direct?

At $0.02-$0.15 per unit, labels are the lowest-cost packaging component. Factory-direct sourcing eliminates 30-50% broker markup and enables the Universal Blank strategy where MSOs apply localized state-specific labels to bulk blank packaging.

Questions

Everything you need to know.

Can you print a unique QR code on every label in a run?
Yes. We use digital variable data printing. Every label can have a unique QR code, batch number, or Metrc UID. No two labels have to be the same. This is standard for us, not an add-on.
What label material works best on mylar bags?
White BOPP with permanent acrylic adhesive. It bonds to the metalized film, it's waterproof, and the white base gives you the best color reproduction. Clear BOPP works if you want a no-label look.
Can you print Metrc UID tags?
Yes. We print Metrc-compatible UID tags with the required barcode and human-readable text. The tags are sized to Metrc specifications. We can serialize them across your run.
Hot foil or metallic BOPP for a premium look?
Hot foil is the real thing. Actual metal foil, visible difference, higher cost. Metallic BOPP is a printed simulation that looks good but isn't the same. For a $50 product, go foil. For a $20 product, metallic BOPP is fine.
What materials are custom cannabis labels compliance stickers made from?
BOPP (Biaxially Oriented Polypropylene), PET, White Vinyl, Kraft paper, and holographic/metallic films; permanent acrylic or oil-resistant/freezer-grade adhesives.
