Child resistant pop top bottles that meet 16 CFR 1700.20. Squeeze and pop. The simplest CR mechanism that actually works. Made for flower and pre-rolls in every dram size you need.

Built for cannabis. Made factory-direct.

How Pop-Tops Work

The pop-top is the most straightforward CR design on the market. You squeeze the sides and the lid pops open. It's mechanical, not chemical. There's no zipper to align, no childproof cap to press and turn. You squeeze, it opens. That's it.

The reason it passes 1700.20 is that the squeeze requires a specific grip strength and hand span that young children don't have. Adults can do it one-handed. Kids can't do it at all. We've tested every dram size we sell and they all pass.

Dram Sizes and What They Hold

Pop-tops come in dram sizes, which is a measurement of volume, not weight. Here's what you need to know. A 13 dram holds a gram or two of flower. A 19 dram holds an eighth. A 30 dram holds a quarter. A 40 dram holds a half ounce. A 60 dram holds a full ounce.

For pre-rolls, the length matters more than the dram. A 116mm tube fits king-size pre-rolls. A 90mm fits standard shorts. We carry both and everything in between. The diameter is consistent across sizes so your pre-roll fits the same way whether it's a 90 or a 116.

The material is medical-grade polypropylene. It's FDA approved for food contact. It's recyclable. It doesn't off-gas. Cheap pop-tops smell like plastic and that smell transfers to your flower. Ours don't.

Color options matter for compliance. Some states require opaque packaging. Some allow clear. Some require UV-blocking amber. We stock clear, white, amber, and black. Tell us your state and we'll tell you what's legal.

Product Knowledge

Is This the Right Packaging for Your Product?

Pop-top bottles (or vials) are the legacy workhorse of the dispensary model, originally adapted from pharmacy pill bottles. They are manufactured from 100% medical-grade Polypropylene (PP) or FDA-compliant PETE-1 plastic, using BPA-free virgin PP. The child-resistant mechanism is brilliant in its simplicity: it relies on a squeeze-to-pop design (ASTM Type III Snap Closure) that requires hand-span and compressive grip strength exceeding the physiological capabilities of children under five, automatically fulfilling CPSC requirements without complex moving parts. Sizes are measured volumetrically in drams (roughly 1/8 ounce or 3.69 mL), including 13, 19, 30, 60, and 90 dram. The rigid PP walls measure roughly 40 to 60 mil in thickness to ensure structural integrity during squeezing. Pop-tops are universally favored for extreme cost efficiency and ease of use. However, the fatal flaw of the pop-top is its seal. Without an internal silicone or foil liner, the rigid plastic lid does not form a true hermetic barrier, allowing severe oxygen exchange over time (up to 2,500 cc/m2/day OTR) that inevitably degrades volatile terpenes and dries out the flower. Thus, pop-tops are suitable for high-turnover products but contraindicated for long-term curing or storage.

Ideal For

  • ✓ Fast-moving 3.5g to 14g flower
  • ✓ Budget pre-rolls
  • ✓ Short-term retail storage

Not Ideal For

  • ✕ Long-term terpene preservation
  • ✕ Liquid extracts
  • ✕ Premium light-sensitive products (unless heavily opaque)

Questions

Everything you need to know.

Do pop-tops pass CPSC testing in every dram size?
Yes. Each dram size is tested independently because the squeeze force changes with the bottle dimensions. We have certification for every size we sell. We don't assume a 13 dram cert covers a 60 dram.
Why do some pop-tops smell like plastic?
Cheap ones use low-grade polypropylene that off-gases. That gas gets into your flower. We use medical-grade PP that's FDA food-contact approved. No smell transfer.
Can pop-tops be custom printed?
Direct print on the bottle is limited. Most brands use a label or a shrink sleeve for branding. We do both. The bottle itself is your container. The label or sleeve is your billboard.
What's the difference between 90mm and 116mm tubes?
90mm fits standard pre-rolls up to about 84mm. 116mm fits king-size up to 109mm. Measure your pre-roll before you order. A tube that's too tight will crush your product.
